Enthusiasm at Highland Park!

En·thu·si·asm (\in-thü-zē-a-zəm)—What a word. We often use this word to describe an emotive experience of excitement. The word derives from two Greek words: en (in) + theos (God). So, “enthusiasm” literally means “in God.” True enthusiasm only comes from a connection with the Lord Jesus Christ. The enthusiasm in our church is palatable: It is Easter and Jesus is alive. TTU has a new President, WDYN is on its way to gaining a new FM frequency, and Camp Joy is about to get a major facelift.

Jesus is Alive!

He’s alive! As we celebrate our risen Lord, we remember how He rose from the dead to come back to life so that we may have life through Him. Remember the words of the angel of the Lord in Matthew 28:6, “He is not here, for he has risen!”

As Your Pastor

I am so honored and humbled to serve as your pastor. As HPBC begins a new chapter in her rich history, I’m enthusiastic about all that God is going to do as we seek Him together.

Tennessee Temple University Has a New President

Although Dr. Steve Echols has been here for a couple of months, we are merely weeks away from his official inauguration on April 29th to serve as President of Tennessee Temple University. Aren’t you enthused about Dr. Echols being here?!

WDYN is on its Way to Gain FM Frequency

Fundraising and negotiating is still underway to seek to expand WDYN to a much wider audience that is stronger and clearer. What a ministry to the Tri-state region. Praise the Lord for our church’s reach to many people over the airwaves and via WDYN.com.

Camp Joy is on the Verge of an Extreme Makeover

While the tornadoes of early March may have initially looked like tragedy, God turned them into triumph. We are enthusiastically awaiting the extreme makeover that is about to take place to our camp that will revolutionize the way we reach children for Jesus Christ.

Enthusiastically,

Pastor Jeremy

HE IS RISEN

“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come see the place where the Lord lay”

(Matthew 28:6).

Jesus Christ is alive. We serve a living Savior. If His bones are still in Jerusalem, there is no hope of salvation for us. But His body is not there. He is alive. His resurrection is the Bible’s greatest miracle and the most important fact in history.

Jesus Christ rose from the dead bodily. When the disciples came to Jesus’ tomb, His body was not there. It had not been stolen, but God the Father had raised Him from the grave. It was not merely Jesus’ spirit or influence that came out of the tomb, it was His actual body.

Jesus rose from the dead victoriously. When Jesus walked out of the tomb, the grave and death were defeated (I Corinthians 15:54-57). He came forth with the keys to death and hell (Revelation 1:18). The grave could not hold Him. Death could not harm Him. Satan was defeated.

Jesus rose eternally from the dead. God used Elijah and Elisha to raise people from the dead. Lazarus and the widow’s son at Nain were raised from the dead, but all of those people died again. Jesus Christ came forth “alive for evermore…” (Revelation 1:18).

The great fact of His death is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He died for our sins and was raised for our justification (Romans 4:25). Because He lives, we also will live as we trust Him by faith as our Savior. Rejoice and be glad as a child of God. Death cannot harm you. Jesus Christ is risen indeed!

CELEBRATING “PALM SUNDAY”! The story is told of a little boy who

as sick on Palm Sunday and was unable to go to church. He and his mother stayed

home and when his father returned from church, he was holding a palm branch.

The little boy asked his boy asked his father, “Why do you have a palm branch, Dad?”

Well, Son, when Jesus came into town everyone waved palm branches to honor Him,

so we got palm branches today at church.” The little boy responded, “Shucks, the one

Sunday I missed church, Jesus shows up!”

On Palm Sunday in Jerusalem the whole city came out to celebrate Jesus and to praise

His name. Yet even as we read of this celebration, we know the cross is coming. Many

of this same crowd will change their words of praise and Hosanna to cries of “crucify

Him, crucify Him.” Yet we know He had come to die for our sins on the cross, and next

Sunday we walk victorious from the tomb in resurrection power. Let’s celebrate today

His person and the wonderful salvation He brings to all who have faith in Him.
