WHAT A JOY TO WATCH OUR PEOPLE COME FORWARD WITH THEIR TITHES AND OFFERINGS FOR THE LORD ON “VICTORY SUNDAY” LAST WEEK. This was a demonstration of love, faith and obedience to our Lord. We could feel the spirit of excitement and anticipation for what God is going to do in our midst. We truly are “PRESSING ON THE UPWARD WAY!”
THE DOOR OF OPPORTUNITY STANDS BEFORE US. Keep praying for our new pastor. Enjoy loving our Lord, our church family, and the ministry God has given us. Let’s work, witness, pray and continue to touch the lives of people in Chattanooga with the Gospel. We want everyone in Chattanooga to hear about Jesus Christ and have an opportunity to receive Him. In order to do this, we must be available and sensitive to the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
WATCH AND CARE FOR PEOPLE. All around us people are hurting, people who do not have a spiritual knowledge of Jesus, and people who do not have a church home. Let’s invite them to come and hear the “Good News” with us at Highland Park Baptist Church.

STEWARDSHIP IS A PART OF OUR COMMITMENT TO JESUS CHRIST. Stewardship is the management of God’s resources entrusted to us for God’s purposes. It is much more than just a matter of money. It touches virtually every area of our lives, and should be given the attention it deserves.
THERE ARE SEVEN COMMITMENT AREAS THAT WE NEED TO REALIZE IN GOD’S TRUTHS OF STEWARDSHIP FROM THE SCRIPTURES:
1) God owns everything. We really don’t own anything but God has placed things in our trust. We are managers of His reserves.
2) God’s work must be supported by God’s people. There are four types of giving: Regular giving – to give consistently on a regular basis. Responsive giving – when God touches your heart to give to one of God’s projects. Reliant giving – when one gives not based upon what you have, but what you believe God will supply for you to give. Revelation giving – when God reveals a specific need and impresses upon a believer to meet it.
3) God holds every person accountable.
4) God’s will is that we give wisely and generously.
5) God desires equal commitment, not equal contribution.
6) God holds more responsible those to whom more is given.
7) God blesses the giver in proportion to the measure by which he or she gives.
DANIEL WEBSTER, THE ILLUSTRIOUS AMERICAN STATESMAN, SAID, “THE MOST PROFOUND AND IMPORTANT THOUGHT TO EVER OCCUPY MY MIND IS THAT I AM INDIVIDUALLY ACCOUNTABLE TO ALMIGHTY GOD.” SO ARE WE!
MAY THE LORD RICHLY BLESS EACH ONE OF YOU.

THIS NOTE WAS FOUND IN THE OFFICE OF A YOUNG PASTOR IN ZIMBABWE, AFRICA, FOLLOWING HIS MARTYRDOM FOR HIS FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. PONDER HIS MEASURE OF COMMITMENT.
“I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have the Holy Spirit’s power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I am finished and done with low living, sight walking, smooth knees, colorless dreams, chained visions, worldly talking, cheap living and warped goals.
I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits or popularity. I don’t have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean in His presence, walk by patience, am uplifted by prayer, and I labor with power.
My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is Heaven, my read is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my guide is reliable, my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the enemy, pander at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I won’t give up, shut up, or let up until I have prayed up and paid up for the cause of Christ. I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till everyone knows, work till He stops me. And when He comes for His own, He will have no trouble recognizing me because my banner will have been clear!”
AFTER READING THIS, WE ALL SHOULD STOP AND LOOK AT OUR COMMITMENT TO CHRIST. It calls to my mind the passage from Luke 9:23-26 where Jesus calls us to “take up our cross daily and follow Him.” Let the Holy Spirit lead this month in a deeper commitment to our Lord.
