Scotty Marcum, Executive Pastor

Executive Pastor Scotty Marcum serves the body with passion and enthusiasm.  A native of Hodgenville,Kentucky, Brother Scotty holds a degree from Jacksonville State University in Business Administration.  Since his calling to full time ministry in 1978, Brother Scotty has served in various capacities including serving as a Youth Pastor, Athletic Director, Sunday School Administrator, coach, and a pastor to singles and couples.

He is married to Penny and they have 3 children, Carly, Hillary and Caleb, and 6 grandchildren.

Bruce Howland, Associate Pastor

Associate Pastor Bruce Howland serves the members of Highland Park providing pastoral care to our families.  Bruce attended both Tennessee Temple University and Seminary focusing on pastoral studies.  Bruce’s care and compassion for the body of Christ is demonstrated daily through his dedication to family ministry here at HPBC.

He has been married for 30 years to Linda and has two children, Myranda and Joshua.

Ken Mahan, Director of Student Ministries

Ken and his wife Lorraine serve the students of HPBC and the local community.  They have a passion to inspire teams of Spirit-led servant leaders to create memorable, irresistable environments of authentic, compelling love.  Ken’s desire is to see many students live out John 10:10 ‘Above and Beyond’ for life.

Ken has attended the Word of Life Bible Institute in Schroon Lake, N.Y. and is currently pursuing a doctorate (dissertation pending) at Knox Theological Seminary.

Steve Whiting, Children’s Director

It was during the Vietnam War that Steve received Christ as his Savior. After returning to the states, he attended Tennessee Temple University and Temple Baptist Seminary.  Steve worked at TTU for nineteen years before transferring to Highland Park Baptist Church as the Children’s Director in 2000.

Steve and his wife Sherrie have two children: Stephen and Stephanie.

Deidra Brown, Missions Coordinator

Deidra, a pharmacist, medical missionary and graduate of Temple Baptist Seminary, serves as our Missions Coordinator. She coordinates our annual missions conference, quarterly mission projects as well as mission trips.  Her desire is for people to experience missions first hand. Her first mission trip to Japan changed her life and she wants everyone to have that same opportunity.

Ignacio Ortiz

Ignacio serves at Highland Park Baptist Church through soccer clinics for local children. Ignacio is from Quito, Ecuador and he graduated from the 3 year program at Word of Life, Argentina. In 2010, he graduated from Tennessee Temple University with his Undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies and he is currently pursuing his Masters of Ministry degree at Temple Baptist Seminary.

Ignacio and his wife, Lauren, have been married 3 years and have one daughter, Ali Greis.
